The Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, in partnership with Zeteo, the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies, the African Studies Program, the Department of Theology and Religious Studies, the Department of English, Georgetown Medical Students for Palestine, and Georgetown University Qatar, present the re-broadcast of a public discourse on the BBC's banned documentary “Gaza: Doctors Under Attack” with filmmaker and journalist Mehdi Hasan and Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, a trauma surgeon who recently volunteered in Gaza.

Event Description

In June 2025, the BBC controversially refused to air the documentary “Gaza: Doctors Under Attack,” produced for the BBC by the award-winning Basement Films. The ground-breaking documentary is the first forensic investigation into the Israeli military’s systematic and repeated targeting of Gaza’s hospitals. It furthermore examines allegations of the targeting and abuse of doctors and healthcare workers serving in Gaza.

Mindful of the film's critical relevance to coverage of Gaza, the online news organization Zeteo saved the film from being consigned to a dark basement at the BBC, forever unseen, acquiring the international rights from Basement and releasing the documentary to a global audience. Though strictly prohibited under international law, Israeli attacks on Gaza’s hospitals and healthcare workers (of whom the UN reports 1,500 have been killed) continue unabated.

In this re-broadcast of our documentary screening and discussion, Mehdi and Dr. Sidhwa discuss the ongoing genocide and especially the horrors faced by healthcare workers in Gaza.
