In this video we demonstrate how to replace a toilet seat on a standard home toilet by removing the old seat and installing a new seat using only a screwdriver. This is a relatively simple home repair and should take less than five minutes.


Resources needed: New seat with mounting hardware
Tools needed: Large flat head screwdriver


If you don't feel like watching the video, you can follow these steps.
1. Flip up flaps above seat which connect seat to bowl.
2. Use screwdriver on screws/bolts turning left to loosen them
3. Reach underneath the bowl and hand loosen nuts attached to screws/bolts until they come off.
4. Remove old seat.
5. Clean mounting area.
6. Open flaps on new seat
7. Align holes on new seat with holes in bowl.
8. Insert new bolts/screws
9. Hand tighten nuts to under side of blots/screws to ensure it's mounted
10. Hold the nut by hand and use the screwdriver on the bolt/screw head, turning it to the right in order to tighten the screw/bolt until it is firmly secured.


Be careful not to tighten it too much because the plastic hardware can break.
