The song Shadowplay from Joey Eppard Live In Concert, featuring Chris Gartmann on drums. This tune has a lot of great stuff in it. First off, it's a duo performance so when you you hear the bass come in take note that its being generated through my polyphonic octave pedal. It allows me to choose where the pedal kicks in on the scale so only lower root notes will trigger the octave. Essentially I'm playing bass and guitar and singing on this track. Second, I'm really proud of the drum sound I dialed in for this. It is all natural, no samples what so ever! Keep in mind this is recorded live and I'm standing right next to the drum kit. The drums sound HUGE on this track and Chris isn't even using regular drum sticks! He's using hot-sticks which keep the cymbols from overwhelming the recording. All in all I think we really captured the spirit of the tune in the moment.
