"The Simurgh's vital drive to transcend its own limitations, as imagined by Jorge Luis Borges, is expressed here through the ascending trajectory of the musical discourse. The sensation of an eternal floating in which time flows slowly, is found at the beginning of the work, and then again mirrored at the end. In total contrast, the central section consists of a music of progress, a movement that has a clear direction towards the defeat of gravity and the conquest of the high register. Symbolically, through the final chords of the work, the natural sounds overlap the harmonic ones, suggesting the concurrence of two planes of existence."
