Happy New year 2024 to all my friends,
Many people want to get away from monotonous life in the new year. Although not too far for work, they are willing to risk peeking into the surrounding areas. This is a 'close to home' place where boating is possible. Ranjandih Dam Purulia has become one of the best attractions of Purulia Tourism district for tourists. This dam is located in Kashipur Thana area of Purulia. In the words of many, it is 'mini Sundarbar'. Surrounded by greenery, this quiet environment seems to cover the wounds of the mind. As winter falls, many people gather there. Apart from the people of Purulia district, many people from outside also throng there.
It is very easy to reach this 'dream place' from Kolkata or other nearby districts. To reach Adra from Purulia city i.e. from Purulia district headquarters to the destination. Then Ranjandi Dam is 13 km from Adra. That is, about an hour and a half from Purulia district headquarters, you will reach this destination. Cottages have already been constructed there for the convenience of tourists. Many people throng this place in Purulia during the picnic season. If you want to take a break from your busy life, you can visit this Ranjandi Dam.

Kashipur Palace is very well known heritage site of Purulia. About 25 kms from Purulia and seven kilometers from Adra. Kashipur was the dwelling place of panchakot Royal family rulling for more then 800 years. Maharaja Neelmoni Singh Deo was the first ruler of Kashipur. It is said that Maharaja Neelmoni Singh Deo fought with Britishers and made Panchkot area free from Britishers. Later, he was arrested and put in Alipore Central Jail at Calcutta. He had built a huge palace which was reconstructed by his grandson, Maharaja Jyoti Prasad Singdeo. The 67th King of Panchokot dynasty was Maharaja Jyotiprasad Singdeo. ln 1912 he gained recognition from the Nawab of Murshidabad Wasif Ali Mirza and in 1921 the British Govt. awarded him the title ‘Raja Bahadur of’ Kashipore’ which was then the capital of “Panchokot”. The last ruler was Maharaja Bhuvaneswari Prasad Singhdeo. It is located about 25 kms from Purulia and seven kilometers from Adra.
