During the holiday break, I purchased and received the RedMagic 10 Pro from Nubia and I would like to talk about it for a bit today.

RedMagic 10 Pro Unboxing
If we remove that, you'll see the USB Cable and the charger.
This black box can be opened from behind, and it contains your SIM tool, warranty card, quick start guide, and a case.
RedMagic 10 Pro First Impressions
My first thoughts about this device is its shape. This phone has the most square corners for a phone than I've ever had before.
For some, this may make the device uncomfortable. I tried using it without any protection for a while, but that didn't last long as I'm a case person.
And to my surprise, the case that I purchased actually makes the phone much more comfortable to use.
The incredibly sharp edges made swiping in from the sides for gestures quite hit or miss.
Not only did it not feel great on my thumb. . .but I also missed contact with the display at times because my thumb is not used to sharp edges like this.
Cons of the RedMagic 10 Pro
So while I have gotten used to how the phone feels with a case. . .there are some things about this device that I'm not happy with.
Software is a big one for me. . .but it's one that I have at least found ways to get around.
For example, I've been trying to use a custom launcher that has support for Google Discover.
My go-to launcher of choice right now is Nova, and when I installed the companion application, the panel to the left here worked as you would expect.
However, after a short time with the phone, that panel refused to open for me.
I tried other launchers with support for Google Discover, including Lawnchair Launcher, Pixel Launcher, Pear Launcher, and a few others.
But each of them had issues with this side panel.
From what I've read, Nubia recently swapped out Google Discover for something called Z-Board, so I thought that may have something to do with it.
After some tinkering, though, I believe it was having issues with the aggressive battery optimization settings that Nubia is using.
Since I have disabled battery optimization for the nova companion application, the issue seems to have been resolved.
But I'm still noticing other bugs with the software.
More than once I have tried to swipe twice from the bottom of the display, while playing some mobile games, and the firmware has bugged out and refused to minimize the game.
This was easily resolved by locking the phone, unlocking it, and then trying again.
But various issues with the software itself has made it very clear that the company has not put in enough time or resources to fix many of the bugs that have been reported.
Pros of the RedMagic 10 Pro
With all of that said, the RedMagic 10 Pro is a beast of a phone.
I'll be doing some benchmarking videos this week to give you an idea as to how powerful this phone can be.
And hope to upload a lot of PC game emulation videos throughout the year.
The built-in fan is a must-have for anyone who plays graphically demanding games on their device.
Whether that's through emulation or native options from the Google Play Store.
The built-in fan is going to help you get the most out of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
I'm also liking the build quality of this device.
I was never a fan of the hollow feel the Pixel 7 Pro has, and thankfully that's not present here.
This phone feels sturdy and built really well.
The last thing that I'd like to point out is the price. With Nubia's main competitor being from ASUS and its price almost twice as much as the RedMagic 10 Pro, this phone really feels worthy of the Flagship Killer moniker.
Especially when you consider how much the price of smartphones has gone up over the last 2 years. . .and how much they are projected to rise this year.
Conclusion
I have a ton more to say about the RedMagic 10 Pro, but I'll leave the rest for the full review that I upload here on the channel.
