The outlook for global economies in 2023 is uncertain with mixed forecasts. The World Bank has downgraded its growth forecast to 1.7% from 3% due to the global economy being close to a recession, but the IMF has slightly raised its growth estimate to 2.9% due to China's reopening and slowing inflation. Central banks, particularly in developed countries, are tightening monetary policies to combat inflation, which could impact future growth. Business leaders are concerned about a global recession, with 98% of 1200 global CEOs surveyed by EY expecting one and more than half fearing a recession worse than the 2008 financial crisis.
