Muslim in Bali 🇮🇩 | Halal Food, Waterfalls & Culture Shock in Indonesia 🌴

Welcome to my latest Indonesia vlog, where I explore Bali as a Muslim and share my full-day adventure visiting one of the most stunning natural wonders in Ubud, Bali — Tegenungan Waterfall. This video is packed with cultural insight, breathtaking scenery, and honest thoughts about being a Muslim traveller in Bali, Indonesia.
We started the morning in the heart of Bali, Indonesia, relaxing by the pool overlooking a peaceful rainforest — a view that truly captures the beauty of Bali nature. While enjoying this peaceful moment, I reflected on what I love about Indonesia as a Muslim traveller, and also some challenges I’ve faced in Bali as a Muslim.
From there, we jumped into a local taxi to explore Tegenungan Waterfall – one of the most famous and most beautiful waterfalls in Bali. For just 30,000 IDR, you get access to this magical place, surrounded by lush greenery and steep cliffs. Before reaching the waterfall, we stopped by a local market where I met a lovely woman running a small shop. Her prices were unbelievably cheap — only 100,000 IDR for items I had seen for double elsewhere! We bought many souvenirs and she even gave me a free gift after I tipped her. It was a heartwarming experience that reminded me of the kindness in Indonesian culture.
Next, we enjoyed a breathtaking view of the waterfall from a nearby viewpoint before checking out a small café. I asked if the food was halal — it was, but to be safe, I ordered vegetarian spring rolls. They were fresh, tasty, and exactly what I needed before heading down to the waterfall. The walk to the base of Tegenungan Waterfall is unforgettable — the sound of crashing water and the natural scenery made it one of the best places to visit in Bali. We even took a ride on the famous Bali swing overlooking the waterfall, an iconic experience!
Back in Ubud, I shared some deeper thoughts about traveling as a Muslim in Bali. Bali is beautiful, no doubt — but one challenge is how freely people dress here, which can be hard for Muslims trying to maintain modesty and Islamic values. It’s not a criticism, just a reflection from someone trying to stay connected to faith while exploring new places.
To end the day, we went to one of the best-rated restaurants in all of Ubud, Bali — a luxurious but surprisingly affordable place with poolside seating and an incredible halal-friendly menu. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding, and the hospitality felt truly special. I talked more about halal food in Bali, finding good places to eat in Indonesia as a Muslim, and shared tips for Muslim travellers looking for safe and enjoyable dining experiences.
