Hong Kong police force on August 10, 2020, arrested publisher Jimmy Lai and at least six other people. The Apple Daily founder and opposition activist, was arrested for suspected collusion with a foreign country under the national security law the Chinese central government recently enacted in the city. After his arrest, more than 200 police officers raided the newspaper’s headquarters. Lai’s two sons and four senior Apple Daily executives were also taken into custody. Apple Daily is published by Next Digital Limited, the company formerly known as Next Media when it was founded by Lai.3
