Описание к видео The Comparison of a 'Trackman' Radar Launch Monitor and High Speed Cameras - Shot 1 Overhead View

The purpose of the study was to compare and hopefully explain, understand and interpret the apparent discrepancies between ball flight viewed by the naked eye and that reported by a market leading 'radar tacking' system, 'Trackman'. In addition, this study aimed to further investigate the club data reported (measured and predicated) by the 'Trackman' system. Two high-speed video cameras (10,000 fps) were used to calculate the key kinematic parameters measured by 'Trackman' to discover if there were significant differences between any of these parameters. To fully understand observations of ball flight, accurate measurement of impact conditions are required to establish the swing mechanics which have created this impact conditions (Cochran, A. & Stobbs, J.). Radar technology has been used for a number of years to provide ball flight data. Only recently has the equipment attempted to measure the impact conditions of the club which can provide the basis for coaching the golf swing. Golf professionals are using radar systems as a coaching tool to measure ball flight, but without fully understand and having accurate measurement parameters for the club impact data and how the centre of gravity of each club impacts the results.

Test notes: Dynamic Loft and Face Angle (leading edge) delivery numbers from video analysis is referred to when the club head makes first contact with the ball, whereas TrackMan club delivery numbers refers to the point in time, more or less maximum deformation of the ball against the club face. The test was conducted using a TrackMan II radar running TrackMan Live software version. 4.0.

However it is interesting to note when accounting for the bulge in the face
i) Face angle pre impact (1 frame before) = 6.1° open
ii) Face Angle Maximum Compression = 7.7° open (Trackman 9.6° open)
iii) Face Angle post impact (1 frame after) = 7.8° open

Angle of Attack is calculated from the average of when the club and ball are in contact with each other... not one instant in time. High or low strikes considerably change Angle of Attack.

The paper was presented at the World Scientific Congress of Golf VI March 2012 http://golfscience.org/
An abstract of the study was published in the International Journal of Golf Science, Volume 1, Supplement, August 2012, pages S31-S33

The impact location has a significant part to play in the numbers presented and the ultimate distance & direction the ball goes. Please when using such radar equipment 'watch the ball fly' with your naked eye, does it match the data presented. Always use impact tape / spray to determine contact position.
