Self efficacy is defined as a belief in one's ability to organize and perform the activities required to achieve a certain goal. Another theory stated that self efficacy maybe similar to people’s perception of their competence and self concept. In the study of English as a foreign language self efficacy is known as one of best predictors of performance. Therefore this abstract is aimed at identifying students’ self efficacy in English classroom. Knowing the level of students’ self efficacy may predict students’ performance in English. The skills targeted are speaking and writing performance. These two skills are cosidered as very important for electronic engineering students since job recruitment often require candidates to master those two skills. Questionaire and interview were used to collect data on self efficacy. In addition, Bandura self efficacy scale was used as the guidance to score each question in the questionnaire. Observation on students activities were also done to ensure that students performed well during their speaking and writing class. The results show that self efficacy has positive impact on students’ performance in terms of fluency and effort in finishing the tasks. Students with high self efficacy tend to keep speaking to finish their presentation, even though they made some pauses. In spite of the pauses, the messages they delivered were considered to be communicative since they were well understood.
