Decoding three generations of representation | Shenin Lebrun | TEDxAmsterdamWomen

Описание к видео Decoding three generations of representation | Shenin Lebrun | TEDxAmsterdamWomen

Shenin Lebrun unravels a profound truth. She talks about the weight that is attached to being the 'only one' in the room or the first in a position. As a Black female producer, Shenin frequently finds herself as the only representative. Reflecting on this, she realizes that represenatation isn't just important for those who see themselves mirrored on screen. Representation matters for everyone. Luckily she sees that representation has evolved distinctly across three generations within her family. She would like to reimagine a world where opportunities are not scarce commodities but abundant resources for all.
Shenin co-founded Maya Creatives, the first and only Dutch television and film production company founded and run by two women of color. Maya Creatives champions diversity, driven by the principle, "You can't be what you can't see." This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
