On April 7, 2017, Pearl Jam was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in a ceremony held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The band was inducted by David Letterman, who filled in for Neil Young, who could not attend due to illness. For their performance of “Alive,” Eddie Vedder and company were joined by former drummer Dave Krusen. Current drummer Matt Cameron was behind the kit for “Given to Fly” (5:10) and “Better Man.” Later in the night, Pearl Jam took part in an all-star rendition of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ in the Free World” that also featured members of Rush, Yes, and Journey.

Krusen and Cameron were both inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that night. Former drummers Dave Abbruzzese, Jack Irons, and Matt Chamberlain were not on the list of inductees. In the previous month, Abbruzzese aired his frustrations over the snub on Facebook. Subsequently, Pearl Jam invited all former drummers to attend the ceremony. In addition to Pearl Jam, the year 2017 Rock Hall inductees also include Tupac Shakur, Joan Baez, Journey, Electric Light Orchestra, and Yes. Source: Pitchfork
