Brahmacharya or Celibacy is one of the basic pillars of Yoga. Brahmacharya means leading a virtuous life, protecting one's semen with good thoughts, meditating on God and acquiring knowledge. This is also the first ashram of the Vedic religion Varnashram, according to which it is for the age group of 0-25 years and following this ashram the students have to get education for future life.

ব্রহ্মচর্য হল যোগের অন্যতম ভিত্তি। ব্রহ্মচর্যের অর্থ হল একটি পুণ্যময় জীবন যাপন করা, ভাল চিন্তা দিয়ে নিজের বীর্য রক্ষা করা, ঈশ্বরের ধ্যান করা এবং জ্ঞান অর্জন করা। এটি বৈদিক ধর্ম বর্ণাশ্রমেরও প্রথম আশ্রম।
ব্রহ্মচর্য থেকে চমৎকারী জ্ঞান লাভ করা যায়।বৈদিক যুগের এবং বর্তমান সময়ের সকল ঋষিরা তা অনুসরণ করতে বলেছেন। ব্রহ্মচর্য কেন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ- ব্রহ্মচর্য আমাদের জীবনে বায়ু গ্রহণের মতোই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। আজ থেকে হাজার হাজার বছর আগে থেকে আমাদের ঋষিরা ব্রহ্মচর্যের তপস্যা করে আসছেন কারণ এটি অনুসরণ করে আমরা এই পৃথিবীর সমস্ত সুখ পেতে পারি।
