Despite his position as emperor, Emperor Sutoku was born unlucky and became a prisoner. Eventually, he became a vengeful spirit and became a Tengu, a spirit so powerful that it is known as one of the three great grudge spirits of Japan.

How did his life lead him to misfortune, and what was the powerful curse he placed on Japan as a Tengu?
