Speech by Dr Ranade and Acharya Parvatikumar

Maharashtra Cultural Centre, Pune organized a grand felicitation ceremony on the occasion of the 70th birth anniversary of Dr Ashok Da Ranade, a veteran scholar musician, composer and Guru. This program was organized on January 19 and 20, 2008 at Yashvantrao Chavan Auditorium, Pune. On the first day, i.e. 19th January 2008, the program commenced with a vocal concert by Dr Ranade in which he rendered Raga Puriya Dhanashree, Thumri in Khamaj-Bihag and a Baithakichi Lavani. This was followed by the felicitation of Dr Ranade by Acharya Parvati Kumar, a veteran Bharat Natyam Guru and scholar, in the presence of Pt. Suresh Talwalkar and Dr Mohan Agashe. The first-day program concluded with Dr Ranade's interview with Dr Aneesh Pradhan and Shubha Mudgal. On 20th January 2008, 'Santanchi Watchal' a thematic concert by Dr Ranade was presented.
