The Expert Lecture on "Enhancing Ethics, Nationalism, and Values in Technical Education of India" is one of the IEEE UP section Young Professionals Professional Lecture Series. This is suppoted by IEEE Region 10 and IEEE Young Professionals region 10. The lecture was organized on 17 Sep 2021 by Young Professionals Committee, IEEE UP Section.

The lecture was delivered by Prof. Neetesh Purohit, Senior Member, IEEE and Professor at IIIT Allahabad.

Abstract: Astonishing progress of human society became possible through the development of multifaceted technologies. In the last couple of decades, the desire to further accelerate this growth led to a highly belligerent technical education system. Students studying these intricate subjects are often seen neglecting the skills of language, sociology, value education, sports etc. Perhaps, this might be one of the reasons that a majority of technology graduates lack a deeper understanding of social issues. Their interpersonal skills, emotion management as well as decision-making capabilities are fragile. Beyond the boundaries of schools, colleges, and countries, it is important to selectively tap opportunities against the ethos of ‘Life is a bundle of lost opportunities’, Empowering Our Own Mind, Life Skill management, Practicing and Acquiring Mind Controlling Skill, etc. are very important aspects of a successful life. Therefore there is an urgent
requirement of intelligently blending these teachings with the regular technical courses. Such an initiative was recently taken up by IIITA Prayagraj, UP, India (a centre of excellence in Information Technology, governed by the act of parliament, IIIT act 2014) by introducing the 'Orientation Camp' as a 4 Credit Compulsory course w.e.f. the batches
admitted in the year 2020 in all programs running at IIITA viz. BTech, MTech, MBA, PhD. Various social organizations and learned persons belonging to diversified domains have been systematically involved in conducting Part-1 and Part-2 of the orientation camp. Being the general chair of the Orientation Camp, I would love to share my takeouts of the camp with you.
