There are 2 ways to get faster at distance running.

2-increase your running efficiency

Cadence definitely falls into the 2nd box and increases your efficiency!

Jack Daniels- world elite distance coach noticed that top runners all gravitated to 180 steps per minute regardless of their running pace! Races, recovery runs, threshold runs, for both men and women.

This metric can be found on any running watch.

What I found was that my natural cadence was around 160 steps per minute. When increasing it to 180, I was able to sustain the same paces at a lower heart rate!!

This is true for most runners.

I recommend getting your steps per minute closer to this 180 number using the pro tip in the video.
