OXFORD UNIVERSITY HIGHLIGHTS: ITS HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE! (4K)

Описание к видео OXFORD UNIVERSITY HIGHLIGHTS: ITS HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE! (4K)

Oxford University, also known as the University of Oxford, is one of the most prestigious and oldest universities in the world. There is evidence of teaching there as early as 1096 and many Nobel laureates, Olympic medal winners, and U.K. prime ministers have attended this University. There is so much great history and architecture here and in this video, I show you a few of the highlights. We see the Martyrs' Memorial, commemorating the bishops who were burnt at the stake at nearby Broad Street because of their Protestant beliefs. Broad Street is also famous for its bookstores, including the Blackwell bookstore. We see the beautiful architecture of the Clarendon Building, the Sheldonian Theatre, the Hertford Bridge (Bridge of Sighs), the Bodleian library, the circular Radcliffe Camera, the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin with its stunning spires, and the 14th century timber building on Ship Street that is still standing. Just an hour outside of London, Oxford University should be on your list of things to see and do when you're in England.
