Part 13 – Schoolhouse Bothy to Inchnadamph
After a really cold night and morning in the Schoolhouse Bothy, and a fine birthday breakfast we left quit late . Easy walking along the river Oykel. After 10km we already where at the Oykel Bridge hotel where we managed to get a cup of coffee and we stayed at least a hour there. Then off to the trail again. Were we found loads of fishing cabins on the route, we used in real PCT fashion all the cabins for a nice tea break. We intended to go further but suddenly that great camp spot for 3 tents was there on our path. So we gave it no thought and pitch our tents.
The next day after a really chilly night again we went of quit late again. We found some blue trail markers and kept following the river. Once passed the Loch Ailish it was getting windier and colder and we got rain now and then in some sort of roulette . After a few miles the path disappeared and it became quit hard going. We made a unintentional side trip to Dubh Loch Mor which was great.
Then a long climb up detour to the saddle that was quit some navigating and scrambling here and there. But then we got the grand views and a long decent down to Inchnadamph where we got a really warm welcome in the Lodge. Beers Energizer Spaghetti and the boys gave me the double bed. And a free stay. What a great day
