During the summer of 2014, Leo Gadson of Producer's Guild, Adam Feldman of the The Free Library of Philadelphia Jazz Project [PJP] teamed up to develop a daring, new performance series: Mysterious Traveler Concert Series. Featuring FREE monthly concerts for 8 months, the series showcased a diverse array of veteran and youthful Jazz performers who are shaping the future sounds of Philadelphia.

The fourth season of the Mysterious Traveler Concert Series continues our celebration of the massive and amazing collections of the Free Library by granting our performers access to explore them as a source of inspiration for the creation of new musical works and arrangements. Drummer and composer, Dwight James explored the history of the drum and also joined in our celebration of John Coltrane’s birthday by performing some Coltrane compositions.

The Mysterious Traveler Concert Series has quietly grown into one of the most exciting musical events in the city. Many audience members stated that they couldn't believe that it was free. All concerts take place at the Montgomery Auditorium in the Parkway Central Library at 1901 Vine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103-1189.
