Meet immunotherapy researcher Dr. Jim Allison, winner of 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine

Congratulations to MD Anderson Cancer Center's Dr. Jim Allison, who has jointly won the 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his immunotherapy research. Dr. Allison’s work has led to new and effective cancer therapies that free the immune system to attack tumors, a breakthrough called immune checkpoint blockade.

The Nobel Prize is the world’s most prestigious annual award for outstanding work in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and promotion of peace.

Dr. Allison is chair of Immunology and executive director of MD Anderson's Moon Shots Program's Immunotherapy platform.
