I'm preparing a little personal-viewed and poorly-musicological based monographic on the figure of a very underrated composer: Camille Saint-Saëns, who no longer needs a formal presentation.

Being known for a very little number of works (such as The Carnival of the Animals, The Danse Macabre or the Introduction and Rondò Cappricioso) Saint-Saëns was a very capable composer; this need to be said and his works need to be re-discovered and more played, so I'm making this series of videos in order to restore the name and the music of a composer that I admire very much. This is the first of a few videos of all the music generes that Camille worte for: opera, mélodie, chamber music, piano music, organ music, choral music...

So I start this project with a Mélodie based on Victor Hugo's Les Contemplations, that, as you will see, is full of passion and dramatic and well thought-harmonic moments. I hope you like it, at least the half of I do. Enjoy the beautifull voice of Anne Sophie von Otter :D
