George Harrison played lead guitar on this song. He used his 1963 Gretsch Tennessean into a Vox AC-100 amp. He also used a Vox Continental organ foot pedal, which creates volume swells. You can hear this effect on one of the Tennesseans at 1:27

He most likely played one of the guitars live with the rest of the band's backing track. Then he overdubbed a second Gretsch part. You'll notice that while they play similar lines, there are notable differences

Bad Boy was originally released in mono in only the USA in 1965. A stereo mix was made later for reissues. This had the main Gretsch guitar panned to the right, and the secondary Gretsch panned straight in the middle. This is how I panned them for the full band cover I did. For this isolated guitar video I kept the main Gretsch on the right, but panned the secondary one all the way to the left so you can hear the parts clearly

I'm using my 1967 Gretsch Tennessean. All original and vintage, no mods! This is plugged into my Ernie Ball VP Jr. Volume Pedal (Analogman taper mod) into my Vox AC30C2x with Celestion Alnico Blue Speakers!
