Did you know that around 90% of museum collections remain hidden from view. UofG's Museums in the Metaverse hopes to change this. Experience cultural heritage like never before - touch, explore and curate your own exhibitions.

Imagine if you could:

• Hold a Goliath Beetle in your palm
• Examine Mary Queen of Scots’ death mask up close
• Create your own exhibition with the Lewis chess pieces

With 300 artefacts already digitised from partners including National Museums and The Hunterian Museum, this £5.6 million innovation is breaking down barriers to cultural heritage. MiM is funded by the UK Government’s Innovation Accelerator programme, led by Innovate UK on behalf of UK Research and Innovation.

Through cutting-edge 3D technology and meticulous digitisation, MiM hopes to transforms inaccessible treasures into interactive experiences and have worked with industry partners edify and contractors Soluis Tech, Float and Lateral North to optimise the VR experience.
