When light passes from one medium to another through a concave spherical surface, the bending of light (refraction) occurs according to Snell's law. However, due to the curved nature of the surface, the path of light changes in a more complex manner than in planar surfaces. The light bends towards the normal when moving from a less dense to a more dense medium and away from the normal when moving from a more dense to a less dense medium. This bending causes image formation at specific locations depending on the refractive indices of the media and the curvature of the surface. The formula governing refraction at a concave spherical surface is derived from the Lensmaker’s equation and Snell's law.
