In this video, I show the process of making a house number that doubles up as a planter box. I wanted my house number to look a bit more exciting than simple numbers on a house...so I made it into a planter box as well.

I found some old pallets, took them apart, measured and cut the wood based on how big I wanted my number sign/planter box to be, proportionate to my wall - in this case about one foot in length and about 2 feet in height. Then I cut the wood, sanded each piece, glued and nailed them together to create the planter box. Torched it with a blow torch for a rustic/burnt wood look, then weather sealed so it can last.

I painted the wooden numbers, glued them to the box, and weather sealed them. I nailed them from the back to secure them solidly. When the seal on my planter box dried, I lined my planter box with a clear garbage bag, filled it with dirt, and then planted succulents - you can even added potted plants if you want.

Hung it onto my house and Voila! Pretty happy with the result.
