Popular actor and president of the Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) Vijay is set to formally launch his political party, at a grand conference in Tamil Nadu's Vikravandi later today. Political and social commentators believe this is his attempt to turn an idea that originated as a bid to fill the political vacuum left by the deaths of J Jayalalithaa and M Karunanidhi into reality.
Vijay, declared the formation of his party in February this year and in September, he had announced that the Election Commission had duly registered his party. He had expressed confidence that his party would emerge as the primary political force in Tamil Nadu.
