Zug old city in Switzerland is a very beautiful historic site on the Lake Zug. At the beginning of the 13th century, Zug was probably founded by the Count of Kyburg, who ruled over the area of Zug. Archaeological finds in the area of the town of Zug suggest a Roman settlement.
The name Zug goes back to the Old High German word zug for pulling or Fischzug (fishing) the pulling in of fishing nets.
The biggest sight is the 52-metre-high Zytturm, which served as a passage for the oldest ring of walls. The Liebfrauenkapelle is a very old church and was first mentioned in a document in 1266.
The Greth Schell Fountain recalls the legend of the town original Margarethe Schell, called "Greth Schell", who at the beginning of the 18th century felt compelled to pick up her wine-swilling husband in the inns at a late hour and then drag him home in a "Chrätze" (backpack).
