How can we be better allies, friends, and colleagues of our our indigenous brothers and sisters? Jahna Cedar has spent a lifetime navigating two worlds with differing practices and responsibilities - code switching. She believes that for reconciliation to progress, code switching needs to be better understood and more widely recognised. Jahna has spent over 20 years advocating for equal rights for Indigenous people in Australia. A proud Nyiyaparli/Yindjibarndi woman from the Pilbara region, She has represented her people at the United Nations on three occasions, shining a spotlight on issues such as children’s rights and equal access to employment, education and training for women. In 2012, she was the youngest person to be elected into the Western Australian International Women’s Day Hall of Fame. Her achievements were further acknowledged in 2017 when she won Business News 40 Under 40, First amongst equals and Telstra Business Women Awards WA – For Purpose and Social Enterprise. In 2022, Jahna was announced as the WA's recipient of the Australian Awards for Excellence in Women’s Leadership, by Women in Leadership Australia.
