🔊🎶 While I did not get to see all my #Portland People during my extended layover in PDX, I did get to eat a lot of food around town—even with the city’s unorthodox waking hours of restaurants, in which most are only open in the evenings no later than 9pm, and only for a few days a week. Starting things off: a #bangbang with #pork adobo and crab fat #squidink noodles 🦀🦑🍝 at #Filipino @MagnaPDX, followed by #Kumamoto oyster 🦪, takowasa 🐙, and sushi 🍣 at @YamaIzakayaPDX. After a cocktail and beer interlude, some burgers at @Paradise_Is_Farags where “boquerones,” the obscure topping in the menu description, is pickled anchovies 🍔🐟🤤. Karaoke ensued 🎤.
The next morning, a few park strolls with #glutenfree mochi donuts 🍩 and #breakfast sandos in between, at @MikikoMochiDonuts. Later, a detox-to-retox combo of Golden Hour ginger/turmeric shots at @TheCelery and #beers at @Vendetta_PDX. When most places are closed on Monday, there’s acclaimed @EemPDX, where Texas #BBQ meets #Thai flavors in dishes like smoked pork belly burnt ends krapow 🥓, red curry sweet and sour fried chicken 🍗 , and white curry with brisket burnt ends 🥩. 🤤🤤🤤
Bike rides, beer, and bar food, and eventually a post-thermal bath lunch of duck soba noodles 🍲 at @AlbertaStCoffee in the @CascadaPDX hotel. Later, @JordanACulberson made my #Burmese fermented tea leaf 🍃 dreams come true with the launch event of @BoneSineRangoon, the new Burmese bites and cocktail annex bar of adjacent @RangoonBistro. Ice cream at Lovely’s Fifty Fifty ensued.
Finally, a flight of #beer and a #bahnmi-inspired #friedchicken sandwich at @WayfinderBeer, followed by a big foodie session at a quintessential #PDX #foodpod, this one @BrooklynCarreta Bar & Carts in Portland’s #Brooklyn district, for @NamoBuddhaCuisine’s Himalayan #momos, Oaxacan delights from @TierraDelSolPDX, @KoreanTigerPDX’s kimchi mandu 🥟, and the best for last: the #Pakistani-#Mexican fusion of @EatMexiKhana 🇵🇰🌮. — PDX, I’m full.🫄🏾— #theglobaltripfood #theglobaltrippdx
