The Plasma Trooper is a Plasma unit released in the 4.0 Patch. It can be trained at the Plasma Weapons Factory for a fair amount of Resource-Gold, Resource-steel, and Resource plasma.
The Plasma Trooper has two devastating attacks that it can unleash onto the battlefield, however, they are balanced out by a series of Prep Times and relatively long cooldowns, but the player needs to keep in mind that because each of the Plasma Trooper's attacks have their own ammo pool and cooldown, the Plasma Trooper can still cause serious damage if not dealt with quickly. The player also needs to keep in mind when deploying this unit that its first attack, X918 Plasma Rifle (Beam), has a range of 2, meaning that if it is placed on the third row, it will not be able to use its first attack, unlike the Plasma Field Technician. The Plasma Trooper also has improved resistances against all damage types, most notably Damage piercing and Damage explosive, enabling it to dish out its attacks more often and survive on the battlefield much longer compared to the Plasma Field Technician. Also, the Plasma Trooper has the ability to hit air units with its second attack, something that the Plasma Field Technician cannot do.

The player is given a free Plasma Trooper after building the Research Lab for Dr. Harris.
