Arturo Sandoval - Manuel Perez and Mario Bauzá

In this video, Sandoval discusses two of the fathers of jazz, Mario Bauzá and Manuel Perez. Perez grew up in New Orleans and was influential in the jazz scene there. Louis Armstrong and King Oliver considered him a mentor and a personal hero. Bauzá was a Cuban immigrant who made his name in New York and helped to put Dizzy Gillespie on the map. Without both of these men, jazz would not be what it is today.
