Description: In this session, Dr. Bankston will describe her career path from research into science policy, highlighting her experiences along the way. She will also discuss ways to get involved and existing opportunities in the field.

Speaker Bio: Adriana Bankston is a scientist, advocate and mentor at the intersection of research, higher education, science policy, and workforce development. By day, Adriana is a Principal Legislative Analyst at the University of California Office of Federal Governmental Relations in Washington, DC. In addition to working at UC, Adriana is also the CEO & Managing Publisher of the Journal of Science Policy & Governance, a Fellow with Advancing Research Impact in Society (ARIS), and a Biomedical Workforce & Policy Research Investigator at the STEM Advocacy Institute. In recognition of her contributions to science policy and connecting science and society, Adriana was named among the Top 50 Women Leaders of DC for 2022, and awarded the inaugural 2022 ARIS Emerging Broader Impacts Leader Award.
