Transcript: China EV Post is reporting that Geely Galaxy has dropped the starting price of its new A7 plug-in hybrid sedan to just $13,620 ahead of the model's official launch this August. That’s about $840 less than what they originally asked for. Two new lower-priced variants are now available for pre-sale, offering 44 miles and 93 miles of electric range, respectively.

While the lower-cost versions drop some features like facial recognition and reduce the number of sensors, higher trims still come with Geely’s G-Pilot H3 system, which supports highway and urban navigation assistance—similar to BYD’s smart driving tech. Built on Geely’s dedicated hybrid platform, the A7 has an impressive total driving range of up to 1,300 miles when combining gas and electric power.

Geely is positioning the A7 to go head-to-head with BYD’s best-selling plug-in hybrids—the Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i. Deutsche Bank expects the A7 to become a strong contender, possibly selling over 10,000 units a month. Test drive units have already started arriving at dealerships, and customers can check out the vehicle now.
