The City of Pflugerville Public Works Department celebrates the groundbreaking of the Wilbarger Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility. The groundbreaking for this $247 million, multi-year project is a significant stride in our wastewater capacity, which will serve residents now and in the future.

“I'm extremely excited about this project and our strategic funding strategies because it allows the City the ability to continue to support growth around the eastern areas of the City's ETJ,” said Mayor Victor Gonzales, City of Pflugerville. “This project is the largest investment in a capital improvement project in the history of the City and meets the City's Strategic Goals of constructing and maintaining a robust and resilient infrastructure that is forward-looking to the future.”

The project is anticipated to be completed by 2027. Once completed, this new wastewater treatment facility, along with new wastewater interceptors, will transfer wastewater flow from a series of lift stations that currently pump flow to the City’s existing Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (CWWTP) to the new interceptors and treatment facility. The project supports the continued growth in the City of Pflugerville and decommissions existing lift stations to reduce environmental impacts and O&M requirements within the system.

Be an environmental steward with reliable wastewater filtration and best practices to protect Pflugerville creeks and waterways.

Produce a clean water discharge that continues to exceed regulatory standards and enhances the area habitat.

Construct a robust treatment process that eliminates the City's need to use wastewater lift stations and minimizes the City's risk profile for our wastewater collection system.

Operate and responsibly manage a wastewater facility that is sized to accommodate Pflugerville's current and future growth.

The new Wilbarger Wastewater Treatment Plant and interceptors are material components to the FY24 capital investment and to ensure resilient wastewater infrastructure.
