The reign of Ienari Tokugawa, the 11th Shogun. Takechiyo, the heir to the throne, goes missing in the inner palace. As search begin, soon Takechiyo is found dead in a pond in the inner palace. As an autopsy is conducted, it turns out that Takechiyo was murdered with a needle coated with aconite, a highly deadly poison, driven into his neck. When the needles are changed in the inner palace, it is discovered that one of the needles belonging to a palace lady has been missing, but she claims that it was stolen the night before the incident and that she is innocent of the crime.
In 1983, a standalone drama aired on the Fuji Television network within the "Jidaigeki Special" time slot. The innovative concept featured "Goshiban" women who were assigned to various tasks within the inner chambers of the Shogun's palace. These women acquire the skills of ninjutsu and engage in investigations, adding a fresh twist to the narrative.
