Uttarakhand is set to introduce a green tax for vehicles entering the state, aiming to reduce pollution and promote sustainable tourism. Starting soon, tourists from outside the state will be required to pay a levy, with fees ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 80, depending on the vehicle type. This green cess will apply to both private and commercial vehicles, ensuring that all non-local traffic contributes to the environmental preservation of the region. However, there are exemptions. Electric vehicles (EVs), two-wheelers, and CNG-powered vehicles will be free from the green tax. Vehicles that are registered within Uttarakhand will also not be charged.
