On Sunday, Nov 4th, our team met at City Hall to create a large-scale painted mural about climate change. The mural echoes the IPCC's latest "Special Report" released earlier in October, which clearly emphasizes the need to take unprecedented action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation by 2030, in order to have a reasonable chance to avoid catastrophic global warming. Our translation for Canadians: it's 10 Years Or BUST! to reduce emissions... Climate Action NOW!

It's clear that despite the urgency, loss of species, wacky extreme weather, etc. etc. we still aren't doing enough - either in Canada, or globally. Yet where federal & provincial leadership may be failing, municipalities can still lead the way! Our Region has set a target of 80% emissions reduction by 2050... while not enough, it is still a powerful incentive for local politicans to find more ways to support innovative climate solutions and LEAD THE WAY.
