Georgia Trip, Christmas Vacation, 2018. Founders Cemetery, Roswell. This was a real treasure for us, a completely accidental find. This is the first burial ground in Roswell and had a relatively short interment period – 1840 – 1860. Roswell was founded by, and name for Roswell King, who is among those interred here along with the remains of Major James Stephens Bulloch, grandfather of President Theodore Roosevelt and grandson of Archibald Bulloch, First President of Georgia, and John Dunwoody ESQ., builder of Mimosa Hall, and his wife, Jane Bulloch Dunwoody. There are also many unmarked graves and the graves of slaves who worked for the local families during the time period buried in a plot roughly the size of a modest backyard.
