Members of the Sikh community from across the Country and locally gathered outside the St. Lucie County Jail on Thursday afternoon to honor the victims of a deadly crash and call for a fair trial for the driver accused of killing them.

Many of them held flags and signs that said, "Make America Great Again."

Sikhs For Justice, an international advocacy group, held a special Sikh prayer, known as an Ardas.

Leaders of the organization said the vigil was meant to stand in solidarity with the families of three people killed in the crash and to show support for Harjinder Singh, the truck driver in custody at the jail.

Investigators say Singh was attempting to make an illegal U-turn on the Florida Turnpike earlier this month when his tractor-trailer blocked all lanes of traffic. A minivan slammed into the trailer, killing everyone inside.

Singh faces three counts of vehicular homicide related to the deadly crash on Florida's Turnpike.
