Tropical Storm Debby made landfall in South Carolina early Thursday morning and is bringing the impacts of heavy rain and flash flooding to North Carolina.

A large portion of the Charlotte area is under a flash flood warning due to Debby's torrential rain. Some of these were even upgraded to a 'Tier 2' flash flood warning, which is the type of warning that will alert your phone if you're in an affected area.

As of 9:30 a.m., Over 139,000 households are without power in North Carolina.

A Record Morning:
The rain was so heavy that Charlotte broke the all-time rainfall record for August 8 with 1.45 inches at 6 a.m. The record of 1.37 inches had stood since 1928. As of 9 a.m. this morning, over 3 inches of rain has fallen, making this the wettest day of the year and made the top 5 wettest days Charlotte has ever recorded in August.

The rest of this Thursday, Aug. 8. Debby will start moving faster north, weaken and unravel as it moves into Virginia. Some areas South and east of Charlotte will be the first to see a break and lighter rain. This trend will spread north through the afternoon and into the evening. #Weather #Forecast
