PARTICIPLES: In this video, you will meet the three most common uses of Participles in the Greek New Testament. It is inevitable that new information is learned by moving from the familiar to the unfamiliar. Thus Rob McIver starts with what is familiar: participles in English. He then looks at how participles are formed in the Greek New Testament, and discovers that the whole thing is very complex (and NOT easier for beginners). Consequently, Rob then notes a way to simplify the number of forms that a beginner needs to know, at least in the early stages. He is able to reduce the items to remember from 216 down to 7! Next, he looks at the adjectival use with an article (“the one who …”), and the adverbial use to indicate time. Examples from the New Testament are examined. Tips on making participles easier are provided. The video finishes by looking at the formation of participles in detail.

This video follows Chapters 26 and 28 of the book by Robert K. McIver, “Beginning New Testament Greek Made Easier”.
