Sahar and his brother Idan were both murdered as a result of the October 7th Hamas terror attack in the south of Israel.

They hid in their home on Kibbutz Be'eri, a beautiful agricultural neighborhood that borders Gaza, a community whose members had dedicated their lives to actively pursuing peace with their Palestinian neighbors.

As their house was lit on fire, Sahar went to get his brother his inhaler, and called his mother to inform her of their decision to jump out the window, as "any death is less painful than burning alive."

Hamas terrorists waited outside the homes for those who would attempt escape, and immediately murdered his brother Idan, and took Sahar hostage to Gaza at the age of 25. He survived two months in horrific conditions in captivity, before they murdered him.

It took a year and 11 months for Sahar's remains to finally be returned to Israel for burial. He and Idan were two of four sons that their parents Tami and Roni lost in this senseless attack, which started this horrific war. Their grandmother Geula was also murdered on October 7th.

101 members of Kibbutz Be'eri were murdered in the October 7th attack - 10% of their 1100 members. The Kibbutz still awaits two hostages to be brought home from Gaza to be buried.
