I originally had this idea in June. I was inspired by and wanted to honor the people who put their bodies on the line to force a worldwide discussion on police brutality and systemic racism (among other things). I borrowed some ideas from the original tune which referenced the radical abolitionist John Brown as well as the 20th century labor anthem Solidarity Forever. Seeing as today is the anniversary of when he led the raid on Harper's Ferry- one of the catalyzing events prior to the American Civil War which ended chattel slavery in the U.S.- I thought to finish it.
