Growing plants in nutrient-rich water with or without the mechanical assistance of an inert medium like sand is known as hydroponics, sometimes known as soilless culture or tank farming. Hydroponic plants are nourished with nutrient-rich solutions, oxygen, and water while planted in inert growing media. This approach encourages rapid development, higher yields, and higher quality.
The Benefits of Hydroponics Over Conventional Soil-Grown Crop Production Include: water usage up to 90% more efficiency. Production increases in the same amount of space by 3 to 10 times. Many crops can be grown twice as quickly in an adequately run hydroponic system. The cost associated with hydroponics is its main drawback. This kind of plant cultivation requires significant investment in hydroponic irrigation equipment, automatic fertilizer systems, lighting, and indoor growing space.
In this video, Lt. Commander CV Prakash, who is successful in this hydroponic farming, talked in detail about the advantages and disadvantages of hydroponics.
