► Britain is facing a drugs crisis, as many people rely on highly addictive prescription drugs.

One in four adults in England take sleeping tablets, anti-depressants or painkillers for far longer than they should - and the struggle to get off them can seem impossible.

Health chiefs say that although GPs need to stop handing them out, sometimes they are left with little choice.
