What can be done when water leaks into your home staining a precious wall hanging?
The tapestry in this video was in a home that was flooded 40 years ago. It was stored with the damage you see and was brought to us recently for cleaning.
The customer chose to correct the water marking/browning only and not risk the entire piece by trying to strip out the dye that ran.

Keep in mind that any cleaning runs the risk of shrinkage and dye bleeding but we were confident that the water marks could be mostly corrected without running colors. If this happens to you don’t wait 40+ years correct it. Get it dry quick.
Some Tips:
-dry using a desk top fan
-don’t use heated air: hairdryer or clothes dryer
-don’t try to washing it without testing the dyes first
-solvent clean it if you can
-contact a local company that knows how to restore wall hangings like these
