Описание к видео Qutech360 w/ Carlos Errando Herranz: Quantum information processing with color centers in silicon

Carlos Errando Herranz is an assistant professor in the Quantum and Computer Engineering Division at EEMCS, and a principal investigator at QuTech and the Kavli Institute. In this talk, he talks about the building blocks for quantum information processing using color centers in Silicon

TITLE: "Building blocks for quantum information processing with color centers in Silicon"

ABSTRACT:

Color centers are promising qubits for scalable quantum information processing due to their long spin coherence and their high connectivity through photon-mediated spin entanglement. When embedded in silicon as a host, they may benefit from a spin-quiet isotopically-purified host, operation directly at telecom wavelengths, and compatibility with standard nanofabrication and with the most advanced microelectronic and photonic platforms. In this talk I will discuss how such a processor may look like and the current challenges in the field. Then I will delve into our work towards a technological platform that includes color center formation, their integration into waveguides and cavities, their spectral control, and the on-chip manipulation and detection of their emitted photons.

SPEAKER:

Carlos is an assistant professor in the Quantum and Computer Engineering Division at EEMCS, and a principal investigator at QuTech and the Kavli Institute. Carlos received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain (UPV, 2013), and his PhD degree in Micro and Nanosystems from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden in 2018. After a postdoctoral stay at the Quantum Nano Photonics group at KTH, he went on to MIT as a Marie Skłodowska Curie postdoctoral fellow. His research interests are quantum photonics, integrated photonics, and color centers.

ABOUT QUTECH360 SEMINARS:

QuTech360 is a series of seminars for all QuTech divisions where they have the opportunity to build a deep understanding of the topics researched at QuTech. In each seminar, a quantum expert will guide us through one of the main topics studied in their group. Learn more at https://qutech.nl/.
