Rifugio Santa Croce in Badia aka Rifugio La Crusc is located in front of the rocky wall of the Sas dla Crusc with a nice panoramic view across Val Badia. The easiest way to get there is the cable cars La Crusc 1+2 from Badia, however, more recommendable is taking the easy hike from La Val via the Armentara meadows and taking the way back close the La Crusc wall.
I prati dell'Armentara are known for their bio diversity of flowers and herbs in early summer as much as for the golden larch colors in late autumn. Highly recommendable is the stop at Ranch de Andre - see the timelapses at the end of the video for the panorama - with great authentic Val Badia kitchen and so nice people. Always a pleasure to be there.
Beyond Rifugio La Crusc taking the way towards the rocky wall of La Crusc leads to a different landscape - Dolomite mountains' erosion leave their traces creating these hiking paths hard to be found anywhere else. The travel guides tell about the Grotta della Neve, an all year snowfield with a washed out cave below. While I was standing upright with full-stretched arm up in this cave a few years ago, the cave almost disappeared and it won't take long until the snow will follow.

Please, only go to the mountains well equipped - especially to the Dolomites. And, please, respect no fly zones - I prati dell'Armentara and Parco Naturale Fanes-Sennes-Braies are such a no fly zone (the road from La Val is just outside of the no fly zones from which the morning flights over Val Badia come from).
